Artist's Statement
I traditionally manipulate images from 17th, 18th and 19th century nature genre paintings, and recompose them to create a body of work re-examining the pre-industrial landscape. My paintings try to embrace the moral allegory, anti-materialsim, and highly romantic body of work called Luminism. With such contributors to this vision like Martin Johnson Heade, Asher Durant and John Kensett, having incorporated a Flemish painting technique based on 17th century botanical paintings. My style combines aesthetics in developing a naturalistic, yet dramatically decorative, and at times artificial, picture plane. I want my images to evoke surface and emotion with at times an unsettling mix of tranquil beauty and isolation.

Archival prints are available on a full collection of images.
